캐나다의 싱어송라이터이자 댄서  Tate McRae(테이트 맥레이)는 13살 때 미국의 댄스 경연 프로그램 "So You Think You Can Dance"에서 참가해 결승에 진출하며 이름을 알리며 2017년부터 유튜브에 자작곡을 업로드하면서 본격적인 활동을 시작했고 'One Day', 'Dear Ex Best Friend', 'Dear Parents' 등의 곡이 폭발적인 조회수를 기록, 유튜브에서 'Artist on the Rise'로 선정되며 단숨에 스타덤에 오른다.

 

마침내 2020년 1월 데뷔 EP 앨범 [all the things i never said]를 발표, 빌리 아일리쉬, 피니어스 오코널 남매가 작곡에 참여한 리드 싱글 'tear myself apart'를 비롯 완성도 높은 음악을 선보였고, 같은 해 발표한 'You Broke Me First'로 빌보드 핫 100 17위, UK 싱글 차트 3위, 미국 RIAA 골드, 영국 BPI 골드, 호주 AR1A 플래티넘 인증을 받으며 큰 성공을 거뒀다.
