한국의 록밴드 먼데이 필링(Monday Feeling)의 새로운 앨범이 오늘 10월 1일 발매되었다. 첫번째 싱글 'Dope'가 6월 25일에 발매된 지 약 3개월 만이다. 다년간 꾸준하게 활동해 온 그들은 이번 앨범에서 4개의 트랙, 3곡의 신곡을 담아냈다.

 

이번 앨범은 긍정적인 분위기와 희망찬 가사를 담고 있다. 음악들이 가진 바이브 역시 지금까지 그들이 보여주었던 음악적 분위기와는 확연히 다른 모습을 보여주고 있다는 점이 이번 앨범에 크게 주목할 부분이다.

특유의 스토리텔링과 다소 고전적인 느낌의 지향점은 여전히 건재하나, 그들의 음악을 처음 듣는 이들로 하여금 먼데이 필링이 가진 색깔을 완벽하게 다른 색으로 정의내리게 할 수 있을 정도의 변화를 담아낸 것이다.

밴드는 이번 앨범을 소개하며 ‘전 세계를 강타한 코로나 시대 속에서 마스크와 거리두기 속 지쳐있는 대중들에게 위로의 손길을 내밀고자 한다’라고 말한다.

분명하게 그들의 행보는 'DOPE'를 기준으로 크게 바뀌었다. 기존 먼데이 필링의 리스너들에게조차도 조금은 생소한 모습일지도 모르겠다. 기존에 잘 알던 어떤 사람이 마치 새로운 옷을 입고 뽐내는 듯한 이번 앨범 속 그들의 변화의 노력은
침체된 한국 밴드 시장에 새로운 바람과 신선한 충격을 안겨줄 것으로 기대된다.
