이번 싱글은 '남성다움'이라는 고정관념으로 인해 깊은 상처를 입은 남성들의 이야기를 노래한다. 억압된 트라우마를 치유하기 위한 과정에서 우주한은 솔직한 가사로 깊은 불안을 직면할 때 안정을 취할 수 있는 메시징을 전한다.

"Tough Guy"는 우리 마음의 가장 깊은 곳의 메시징을 대신 말해주며, 이번 싱글은 그런 부분에서 만들어지는 감정의 분출을 표현한 음악적 풍경과도 같다고 비유할 수 있다.
