잉글랜드의 싱어송라이터 Dua Lipa (두아리파)는 평소 좋아하는 뮤지션인 Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado의 커버와 자작곡을 유튜브에 올리며 레코드사 관계자들의 눈에 띄어 본격적인 데뷔 준비를 시작했다.

 

2015년 8월에 발매된 첫 싱글 'New Love'는 큰 주목을 받지 못했지만, 이어 발표한 두 번째 싱글 'Be The One'으로 분위기를 반전시켜 UK 차트 9위를 비롯해 11개가 넘는 유럽권 나라에서 Top 10 안으로 진입하는 괄목할 성과를 이루었다.

2016년에는 싱글 'Hotter than Hell'로 UK 차트 15위를 기록, 이어 발표한 'Blow Your Mind (Mwah)'가 빌보드 싱글 차트 23위에 오르며 상승세를 이어갔고, 이듬해 데뷔작 [Dua Lipa]를 발매해 UK 앨범 차트 5위와 빌보드 앨범 차트 67위 등에 오르며 각종 매체와 평론가들에게 호평을 받았다. 뒤이어 공개된 여섯 번째 싱글 'New Rules'가 UK 차트 1위를 달성하며 글로벌 히트를 이뤄냈고, 이런 성과를 바탕으로 2017년 영국 스포티파이에서 최다 스트리밍 아티스트에 올랐다.
 
또한 "2018 브릿 어워드" Breakthrough Act상, British Female Solo Artist 상으로 2관왕을 거머쥐었으며, "NME 어워드"에서 신인상까지 수상해 단기간에 어마어마한 커리어를 쌓았다. 2018년의 시작과 동시에 싱글 'IDGAF'를 발표했고, Calvin Harris와의 합작 'One Kiss'까지 큰 성과를 거두었다. 2020년에는 두 번째 정규앨범인 [Future Nostalgia]를 발표해 "제63회 그래미 어워드" 올해의 앨범상에 노미네이트되었다.
